Advent Retreat is a time prior to Christmas to enable you to have a quality space to rest, relax and reflect on the meaning of Christmas for us today, and to help us find space to be before the festivities begin. It is a led retreat and offers plenty of free time for your own enjoyment and refreshment as well as offering daily worship and prayer centred on the Christian theme of Advent.

This retreat caters not only for those seeking a deeper understanding of the subject but also provides a time away in a relaxed and informal atmosphere of comfort and peace to restore and renew us in body, mind or spirit.

The retreat begins on Monday at 4.30pm with welcomes and introductions, then after the evening meal there is a gentle and inspirational evening healing service open to the public. This usually attracts about thirty to forty people and lasts about 90 minutes.

Tuesday and Wednesday are taken up with reflections on the theme but also provide free time to enjoy the gardens and grounds or go for a walk in the surrounding countryside. The art room is always available for those wishing to try their skills whether beginners or more advanced, to express through painting or drawing what cannot always be expressed through words. The lounge and library also provide comfortable places for quiet relaxation.

The retreat concludes with a second open healing service on Thursday morning and a final group session identifying what we can take away from our time together.

Numbers taking part are usually limited to about 12 to give plenty of opportunity for worthwhile sharing. Should you feel the need to talk or pray with someone during your time here about any issue on your heart or mind, members of our experienced chaplaincy team are always on hand for confidential and personal prayer ministry.
